YOUR SOLUTION TO PLAINWINDOWS & PATIO DOORS

CALCULATOR

You will need to cut two different lengths of strips for each window. Since each connector takes up 1″ (or 25mm) of space in each direction, the strip piece length depends on your window size and the number of connectors your will be using.

FULL-SURROUND

NON-SURROUND

WITH OR WITHOUT SURROUND

Each type of  grid shown above has its advantages. The full-surround adds rigidity to larger grids; the outer frame may also provide a more finished look if your window frame isn’t white. NPC recommends the surround for patio door grids and other large grids although it is not required to achieve the effect.

You may find that the non-surround version is better for smaller windows. It is also the most economical since fewer parts are needed.

HOW TO DIVIDE A WINDOW

Start with your smallest window first. Most panes (divided lites) are about the size of a piece of typing paper or larger. Most prefer the panes to be taller than they are wide but, again, this is a personal choice. You can take a piece of typing paper and see how many sheets fit across and down your window, or use a bar of soap and sketch the grid on your glass. Once you establish a pane size you like, you will attempt to do all windows with the same approximate size panes. The final size will vary with each different sized window.

The Calculator only does 1 pane of glass. (A window that slides has 2 panes of glass. You will need both pane measurements.)

3 Columns and 6 Rows per piece of glass. (Slider has 2 pieces of glass)
